Summary

This study portrays the mobility characteristics, service usage and needs of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit persons moving into the city of Winnipeg. The findings of this study are grouped into three areas: 1) a comprehensive picture of the characteristics of the movers; 2) the specific issues surrounding the access and provision of services for Aboriginal persons who have recently arrived in Winnipeg; and 3) based on the findings, there are several areas which must be considered in order to improve the experience of Aboriginal persons when arriving in Winnipeg. The study indicated that housing and Social Assistance were specifically problematic for newcomers to Winnipeg
